Kevin Lynch to Retire as Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Robotics

Retiring EiC Kevin Lynch and incoming EiC Wolfram Burgard at the T-RO Editorial Board Meeting at The Royal Society in London.

Kevin Lynch, a professor of mechanical engineering and the director of the Center for Robotics and Biosystems, Northwestern University, has served as editor-in-chief of T-RO since 2018. Lynch will have overseen the production of 30 issues of T-RO. Among its other achievements under his leadership, T-RO has nearly doubled its submissions, which are up 90% from when Lynch took over. Lynch also implemented a system whereby authors of accepted T-RO papers are automatically offered the opportunity to present their research at the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, and IEEE International Conference on Automation Science and Engineering.
