Todd Murphey Receives the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society's Distinguished Service Award

Todd Murphey received the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society's Distinguished Service Award at the 2025 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) in Atlanta, Georgia. The award recognizes individuals who have performed outstanding service in the areas of conferences, meetings, publications, editors, administrative committees or chapter service for the benefit and advancement of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS). Murphey served as Vice President of Publications and Activities from 2022 to 2023. During his term he led the launch of two new journals: IEEE Robotics and Automation Practice (RA-P) and IEEE Transactions on Field Robotics (T-FR). He continues to support the development of these new journals. Murphey's past service includes Publication Chair for IEEE International Conference on Automation Science and Engineering (CASE) and Local Arrangements Chair for the IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS); as well as years of serving on program committees for multiple conferences over the last two decades. Murphey has served as a senior editor with IEEE Transactions on Robotics (T-RO) and associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Automation and Science Engineering (T-ASE) and Robotica.
